Implementation guide · Weekend coverage

Add a weekend call path without changing your weekday desk

Weekend coverage is a configured schedule, not a different product. Define when the AI path should be active, what it may collect, and what the team should do with the resulting call record when staffed coverage resumes.

When to use this pattern

Use a weekend-only path when your business has different Saturday or Sunday staffing and you want a predictable intake option during the periods you choose. The value depends on your actual call patterns and whether a configured intake and follow-up workflow helps your team; this guide does not assume a particular call volume or revenue result.

How to configure it

  1. Record the staffed weekend hours, closed periods, and any holiday exceptions.
  2. Define the approved intake questions and which requests need a callback, escalation, transfer, or another configured next step.
  3. Confirm the forwarding or routing method supported by your current phone provider, including how to disable or roll it back.
  4. Activate only after a weekend test confirms the greeting, intake, persistence, and downstream actions match the approved configuration.

What the receptionist can do

The receptionist can identify itself as AI, collect the caller and service context approved for your workflow, and create the supported call/result record. Booking, SMS, CRM, dispatch, live transfer, emergency handling, and other actions are configuration-dependent and should not be assumed unless they are actually enabled for the selected setup.

Validation

  1. Place a synthetic test call during a configured weekend window and verify the expected greeting and intake path.
  2. Verify the call/result record contains the information the workflow is supposed to capture and no unsupported facts or actions were introduced.
  3. Test the weekday path separately so weekend routing does not accidentally replace the normal staffed flow.
  4. Confirm the rollback path and any configured notifications or follow-up ownership.

Pricing and plan selection

Weekend coverage uses the current Magic Receptionist plan and billing rules; it is not a separate permanent discount tier. Check the current pricing page for Base, Receptionist, and Lead Engine. Any promotional pilot must be separately approved before it appears as public pricing.
